Ayurvedic Cooking Spices for Kitchari and Pitta Diet

This Pitta Spice is made from a selection of herbs and spices, which have a slightly cooling and relaxing effect on the Body and Mind. Spices have very therapeutic properties, and enhance the flavor of any meal.


Kitchari is a meal preparation commonly used in therapeutic practice in panchakarma, a detoxing program. PANCHA (five) Karma (procedures). Kitchari helps to remove excess Dosha imbalances from the body.

The word kitchari means “mixture” it consist of a mixture of rice, beans, and herbs cooked in ghee. The most beneficial rice and bean is basmati and mung bean. It is highly suggested to sprout your mung beans first before cooking. This allows the lectins to be significantly reduced. Mung beans are anti-inflammatory, hypo-allergenic and do not cause gas.
