    Also known as Gokharu

    📖 Overview

Gokshura is a low-growing herb with thorny fruit, long celebrated in Ayurveda for supporting the urinary tract, reproductive system, and muscle strength. It’s particularly revered as a Rasayana for reproductive vitality, kidney health, and Vata-balancing effects.

    📜 Traditional Use in Ayurveda

Gokshura is described in classical Ayurvedic texts as Mutrala (diuretic), Shukrala (supportive of reproductive fluids), and Balya (strengthening). It is traditionally used to maintain healthy urination, support libido, and soothe urinary tract imbalances, especially those associated with Vata.

    Charaka Samhita (Sutra Sthana 4.12):
    “Gokshuram mutrakrichchhranashanam balavardhanam”
“Gokshura alleviates urinary discomfort and promotes strength.”

Bhavaprakasha Nighantu (Pushpadi Varga, Verse 90):
    “Gokshura madhura snigdha balya shukravardhaka”
“Gokshura is sweet, nourishing, strength-giving, and promotes reproductive vitality.”

It’s a key ingredient in classical formulations like Gokshuradi Guggulu and Dashamoola Kwatha.

    • Powder (Churna): 1–3 grams daily, typically mixed with warm water or honey
